My primary focus with this site is to share my thoughts and strategies related to online communications. I have an avid interest in technology-related marketing and communications methodologies, including social media marketing, company blogging, online authenticity/transparency, and writing for SEO. I am a big supporter of company blogging (both internally and externally) and social networking, and am also a proponent of conversational and long-tail marketing, particularly within the branding realm.

I'm currently on the executive committee of the High-Tech. Communicators’ Exchange (HTCE), which is comprised of corporate, marketing, visual, and technical communicators primarily serving the high-tech industry. I find it a great group to learn about what's going on with local tech. companies and a good opportunity to meet other people in the industry.

My current focus includes the following:


Communications & Marketing

-Directing and implementing communications initiatives, including employer branding, internal communications strategies, and public relations
-Working with online marketing tools and techniques, including search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM)
-B2B marketing and project management for companies in the technology and retail industries


Production Management

-Managing production departments, creating various positions, conducting employee reviews, working with teams and individuals to set and attain goals
-Initiating change and implementing process, including developing and executing integrated strategies, focused on increasing productivity and sales
-Directing visual specifications/branding goals and approving concepts


Writing

-Blogging for internal and external company blogs; aggregating blog content
-Copywriting for print (magazine/newspaper advertising, flyer, signage) and web (websites, Intranet sites, banner advertising)
-Technical writing, including computer manuals, technical specs, and help files


Technical Proficiency

-Proficient in: Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, various Corel programs, Dreamweaver, QuarkXPress, RoboHelp, multiple e-mail programs and browsers, various utilities and content management systems, basic HTML skills
-Comfortable in both Mac and PC environments; quick to learn new applications/technologies
